Diagramming Sentence Fun!

Today we worked on our skills as sentence analysts using holiday songs to blend a review of grammar symbols while having a bit of fun :)

I hope you'll consider joining us tomorrow at 1:30 for the traditional Ellis sing-along.

It's almost here...can you feel the excitement in the air? We have the awesome opportunity to mentor with Ms. Aimee's PreK - K class every Wednesday afternoon. Today we focused on getting into the holiday spirit by making snowflakes and Grinch masks. It was a lot of fun! I am so proud of our middle school students for being such great learning partners with the little ones.Watching them all work together with their little friends is incredible and renews my faith in humanity.

Winter break is only two days away - which means our second quarter is also coming to an end. Here are a few reminders:

  • Social Studies Test tomorrow (Thursday, 12/17)
  • Last day to turn in assignments (Thursday, 12/17)
And the FUN stuff:
  • Homeroom Book Exchange/Secret Santa (Friday, 12/18) **Please speak to your child about this if you haven't already and make sure they are prepared to bring in a book (new or gently used) on Friday. Thank you!
  • Ellis Sing-Along - (Friday, 12/18 @ 1:30-ish) in the backyard
  • Winter Break: December 19 - January 4. Students report back to school Tuesday, Jan. 5
Classroom Supplies:
Please take time over the break to see what school supplies your child needs to have replenished (composition books, notebook paper, pens, pencils, etc.). If your child has earbuds or headphones (that are not distracting), please encourage them to bring them in when we return to school. They are very helpful when students are working on Compass Learning (a great activity that you can have your kids do at home as well). In addition, any donations of facial tissue, pencils, or Clorox wipes is greatly appreciated.

Happy Holidays!

Week of December 14, 2015

As part of my ongoing technological development, I will be posting class information and updates here for 6th grade Language Arts and Social Studies. I appreciate your support as we venture forward.

Language Arts:

  • Students have completed their last DBQ (yay!) for this nine weeks entitled Types of Citizens. This assignment is located in Google Classroom and I strongly encourage you to log in to your child's account to see their progress. They are welcome to make revisions, but all work must be submitted by Thursday, Dec. 17.
Social Studies:
  • We are concluding our unit on Europe this week and will end with a test on Thursday, Dec 17 over Chapter 13 (Sections 1, 2, and 3). Students have been working on this chapter for two weeks and were given an opportunity in class today to clarify any questions they may have. We'll do a whole group review tomorrow (Weds, Dec 16).
