I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend and had time to reflect on the peace that Martin Luther King, Jr. wished for our world. It is with great joy that I come to work to a place that honors the grace and courtesy of the adults and the children so that we can grow in all ways - not just academically, but socially and emotionally as well.
This is going to be a "follow the child" week as I have classes and students in very different parts of our work this week. It's a bit chaotic but I think we'll manage it and find our way back together by Friday. This is a positive thing as many students are getting the small group attention that they need to be successful.
Here are the things that we are working on completing:
Hatchet Assignments
- Test tomorrow (1/18) for Mr. Trent's class on Chapters 1 - 4. (Ms. Susan's class took the test on Friday.)
- Four (4) journal assignments that are to be handwritten and submitted or typed, printed, and submitted.
- Lesson on Figurative Language (Tues, 1/18)
- Google Classroom Assignment: Figurative Language (finding examples in Hatchet).
- Students should read Chapters 5 and 6 by Wednesday and complete the Hatchet Plot Worksheet (Google Classroom). I have plenty of paper copies if students would rather do the assignment on paper.
Social Studies
- Complete biome map of South America by Wednesday.
- Complete Google Classroom Biome Worksheet by Wednesday.
- Current Events #1-3 are due by Friday. Whatever is not submitted by this Friday will be graded as a 0 and will not be accepted. Please understand that this is an assignment that is due every Friday.
- Biome research - students need to research and write 1 paragraph about the following South American biomes: oceans, temperate forests, grasslands, and wetlands. This needs to be completed by Friday.
As always, your comments and suggestions are greatly welcomed and appreciated.
Ms. Susan
