New Information Regarding GMAS and Summer School

Happy Monday,

Today, all students received a letter from Dr. Lockamy outlining the State Board of Education's decision to waive the 2016 End of Grade test scores. While this test did not pertain to the retention or promotion of 6th grade students, it is also not a consideration for students in Grades 3, 5, or 8.

However, it is extremely important that you attend your child's conference this week to determine if they are promoted or retained. At this time, the SRI/MAP benchmark scores as well as the year-end average of the core classes (ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies) are the criteria being used to determine promotion/retention. If your child does not meet the appeals process for the SRI/MAP benchmarks, and/or did not pass a core subject class with an end of the year average of at least 70%, your child must attend summer school.

The letter that was sent home today outlines the options for summer school and includes physical locations as well as the Virtual (Online) option. You must register for one of these options by May 23 in order to attend Summer School.

Please feel free to contact me or Mr. Trent if you have any questions. This information will be made available to you again during your final  conferences this week.

Sincerely,
Ms. Susan
