Progress Reports, etc.

Good Evening, Families -

RE: Progress reports, Saturday school, MESS event, Counseling Lesson, and information from Ms. Lisa

1) PROGRESS REPORTS: Progress reports will be sent home tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 12. Please sign and return them by Monday, Sept. 16. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to get in touch through email to me (susan.torrance@sccpss.com for ELA/SS) or Mr. Sean (sean.vetrovsky@sccpss.com for Math/Science).

2) Saturday School is offered this Saturday, 9/14, for students who do not have at least 80% of their work completed for the weeks of Aug. 26 and Sept. 9. Your child will let you know Friday morning if they are required to attend Saturday School. They will have the opportunity on Friday to complete work during Study Hall - which means they will miss their club time.

Our class structure offers plenty of time for group work and individual work assignments to be completed. There is an expectation of self-assigned homework for all students. Again, feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or concerns.

3) Remember that the Montessori Education Society of Savannah (MESS) is hosting a screening of "Inside Montessori" at 6pm at the Yamacraw Center for Performing Arts. This will be followed by a panel discussion of experts in Montessori education. Light refreshments will be served.

4) Counseling Lesson: The counseling lesson for our students this week is called "Say Something." It is part of the Sandy Hook Initiative to prevent school violence. The message is that our children should pay attention to their surroundings, and if they notice anyone demonstrating behaviors that concern them (especially on social media), that they report this to an adult immediately. We want to help all children develop into safe and healthy adults. If your child shares anything with you that you think we need to be aware of, please get in touch with us or our school counselors (ivey.poinsette@sccpss.com or rebecca.burkhart@sccpss.com).

5) Information from Ms. Lisa, our fabulous Media Specialist: Please check the Ellis web page for information about PTA's "Do Good Things Grant" and Ellis Eats Out Night at Chipotle restaurant on Victory Drive.

Thank you and have a pleasant rest of your week,
Ms. Susan
